KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd announced that it has replaced 70% of the affected Takata driver and passenger front airbag inflators as of this month.

In a statement today, the carmaker said it had replaced 81.2% of affected Takata driver front airbag inflators, and 59.5% of Takata passenger front airbag inflators.

The company said it would ensure that the airbag inflators would always be in stock, as part of its effort to ensure the safety of the customers and to ease the process of replacing the affected Takata airbag inflators.

It said it would continue its replacement services via the Honda Malaysia Mobile Hub in selected shopping malls and Petronas stations, making it convenient for customers to replace the airbag inflators without having to set appointments.

“To make it even more accessible for affected customers, the Honda Malaysia Mobile Hub in various shopping malls in Peninsular Malaysia will be available every weekend in August,” it said.

The company urged car owners to replace the defective airbag inflators as soon as possible, warning that the airbags may deploy with excessive force and may rupture, resulting in injury or fatality.

“Affected customers are strongly encouraged to make an appointment at any Honda Authorised Service Centre to avoid delays or setbacks in replacing the Takata front airbag inflators,” it said.
