PETALING JAYA: Ford in Malayisa has started pre-launch order taking for the iconic Mustang ahead of its arrival in December.
Malaysians can choose between the new turbocharged, fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost variant priced from RM435,000 to RM450,000, and the classic 5.0-litre V8 from RM550,000 to RM565,000.
Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, which produces an impressive 310 horsepower, was designed specifically for Mustang to meet the needs of drivers looking for outstanding performance and fuel efficiency.
“This 2.3-litre EcoBoost fastback is a perfect fit for Malaysia, because it delivers the legendary power and performance that a Mustang driver expects, while addressing today’s demands for exceptional fuel efficiency, and all with head-turning style,” said Ford Motor Company sales and marketing director for Malaysia Veemala Rethinasamy.
The 5.0-litre V8 has been optimised, and features an upgraded valve train and cylinder heads that produces 435hp.
Both variants are available in five eye-catching colours – Oxford White, Shadow Black, Deep Impact Blue, Magnetic Grey and Race Red.
A special Triple Yellow Tri-Coat colour is also available for the 5.0-litre V8 variant.
Built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States, the new sixth-generation Mustang features more precise steering control and enhanced ride comfort.
Previously made only in left-hand drive, the Mustang is now also sold in right-hand drive.
Malaysia is one of a select number of right-hand drive markets to welcome Mustang for the first time, as part of its 50th anniversary of continuous production.
The iconic pony car touts a number of technologies, providing drivers with enhanced information, control, and connectivity. It lists Intelligent Access with push-button start, SYNC2 connectivity and MyKey as examples.
