KUALA LUMPUR: The Cayenne GTS is the latest Porsche to join its SUV line-up.

Launched at the Porsche showroom here on Friday, Porsche described the GTS as "a fusion of two worlds, featuring

the  space,  comfort  and  clear  layout  of  an  SUV  with  the  driving  fun,  dynamics  and  agility  of  a

sports car."

The  GTS - slotted between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo - combines  greater  engine  output,  more power development and a firmer chasis setup with a lower-slung body than the S.

“The Porsche Cayenne is among  the  bestsellers  in  the  Porsche’s product  range.  With  the  new Cayenne GTS, this makes up a total of six variants that are currently available in Malaysia for this second-generation luxury SUV," said Sime Darby Auto Performance CEO Arnt Bayer.

The  naturally aspirated GTS V8 engine is based on the S version but with slighlty more output at 420hp.

The GTS uses an eight-speed  Tiptronic  S  transmission with integrated  auto  start/stop  function.

It sprints from a standing start to 100kph in 5.7 seconds, reaching a top speed is 261kph and the NEDC fuel consumption 10.7 litres per 100km.

It has Porsche  Active Suspension  Management and the body is lowered  by  24 mm  relative  to  the

Cayenne S.

As a result, the GTS is  closer to the road and is said to move with the sports car’s trademark composure and agility.

Eye-catching features include a front-end borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo, frames and trims in high-gloss

black, prominent side skirts and wider wheel arches as well as a roof spoiler with twin-wing profile. The interior follows a sporty elegance theme, featuring a leather interior with  Alcantara  elements  as  standard.

Front  sport  seats  with  eight  adjustment  options  are  also standard.

The base price of the new Cayenne GTS starts from RM 800,000 which includes a 4-year factory

warranty  and  a  4-year  complimentary  service  and  maintenance  package.

The  price includes all applicable duties and exclude registration fee, road tax and insurance.

Sime Darby Auto Performance expects to sell 50 units of the GTS a year.

At the GTS launch, Bayer also announced that the new Carrera 4S will arrive locally in February, and will be priced from RM970,000.
