PETALING JAYA:  Personalisation has always been part of the appeal of buying a Ferrari, not to mention the ability to enjoy supercar performance and be the envy of the neighbours.

If the current bespoke options still leave you wanting more, Ferrari has just the antidote for that - its Tailor-Made programme.

It's a new level of bespoke options from Maranello that allows customers to personalise their Ferrari to their hearts' desire.

But Ferrari Asean sales chief Simon Inglefield is quick to add that it doesn't mean a person can order a garish pink or have "Hello Kitty" theme in the car.

The whole package has to gel together and conform to Ferrari's core values of innovation, elegance and passion.

The Tailor-Made programme continues a longstanding Maranello tradition which began in the 1950s and 60s.

That prestigious past has now been revived through a programme that permits owners to specify every last detail of their Ferrari, from the exterior livery colour to the cabin trim, via a wide choice of finishes, accessories, materials, treatments and colours.

With more Ferrari owners in Malaysia, Naza Italia has identified a need for customers to differentiate themeselves even more through their cars.

Under the programme, the customer can go to Maranello and be assigned his own personal designer who is charged with guaranteeing that the resulting cars are both unique and consistent with the Ferrari brand and its tradition.

The Tailor-Made programme comprises a choice of three collections: Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.

Seats are bespoke as well.

Once the car’s details have been defined, the client can then track all of the various processes involved in its creation, right up until he takes delivery. He could also personally pick up the finished product at Maranello if he wants.

The Tailor-Made programme starts from RM150,000 and can rise up to RM500,000.

It takes three months to six months for the bespoke specifications to be completed depending on whether the materials requested are readily available. Such materials also have to be tested to ensure they comply with Ferrari standards.

The Tailor-Made programme was announced today at the Naza Italia showroom here. The show car highlighting the Classica options was an FF, a four-seater Ferrari that was introduced locally in 2011.

Naza Italia is the official importer and distributor for Ferrari in Malaysia.
