Q1: My Hyundai Sonata 2.4 steering feels heavy despite changing a noisy pump to a new one and repairing a leaking rack. What else can be done?

Have you check the condition of your power steering hose?

Generally in a newer car, it contributes to the performance of the steering system.

The heavy steering feel could be caused by one or more of the following situations: wrong tyre pressure; wheel misalignment; or tyre size is too big and wide

Get a qualified technician to check the aforementioned items to resolve the problem.

Q2: My 1987 NA Mazda RX-7 has been acting up lately.

It will start up okay and then stalls a few seconds later. I have checked the fuses, main relay and fuel pressure; they are in order.

I’m stumped. Can you help?

The most likely cause of your complaint is a defective relay or the circuits to your fuel pump operation are faulty.

Check the circuits to rule them out as the source of the issue.

Q3: I have a 2010 Ford Focus and would like to fit in nitrous oxide (NOS). What’s the estimated cost for an engine rebuild?  I accept that engine life will be shortened as a result of using NOS occasionally.

Are there any particular aspects of this plan that I should focus on?

The upgrade cost is dependent on the type of components you wish to install in your car. But generally it is around RM3,000 to RM5,000.

Note that you need to pay attention to the engine's internal components and make sure they can handle the additional power.
