The new brand joins the company’s range of tyres consisting of Continental, Dunlop and Sime.

Tyres from the Continental brand are positioned as premium products, while those from Dunlop as categorised as quality buys and Sime as budget range.

The Viking will be slotted below the Dunlop brand but above Sime which will be phased out in a few years.

Continental Malaysia chief executive officer Benoit Henry said Viking tyres, which combined Norwegian flair and German technology, are well equipped to meet the increasing demands from motorists for tyres with better performance, safety and reliability.

The Viking brand originates from Norway and has a 70-year history. The brand was acquired by the Continental Group in 1992.

It is constructed with the “Navigasjon” or “nagivgation” technology to deliver a safer ride and longer tyre life.

The tyre is available from 15 to 18 inches and from 70 to 40 series.

Both the CT5 and PT5 are produced at Continental Malaysia’s factory in Alor Setar, Kedah.
