KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has announced a record 217% increase in sales for its  passenger cars, the highest since the company started retail operations in 2007.

It sold 2,810 units in 2010 compared to 885 in 2009.

The massive jump was attributed to the introduction of three models, strong sales of the Passat CC and a dealer network expansion. The three models were Polo 1.2l, Golf 1.4l and Scirocco 1.4l.
