ADVERTORIAL: Kia Sportage is a cut above the rest

By CARSIFU | 9 November 2016

The all-new Kia Sportage has been completely redesigned to wow and calling it a showstopper or a head-turner does not do it enough justice.

Available in two variants – the GT Line and the KX, the Sportage cranks up the excitement in the mid-size sports-utility segment with its muscular lines and powerful looks.

The GT Line tops the range with all the bells and whistles, while the KX is the entry-level variant.

Both the GT Line and the KX come fitted with automatic headlights, audio controls on the steering wheel, drive mode selection (Eco, Normal and Sport), rear fog lamps, rear air-conditioning vents, an eight-speaker JBL infotainment system with USB/auxiliary port connectivity and a rear-view camera as standard.

The Sportage’s 2.0-litre MPI Nu engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (DCVVT) that produces 155PS and 192Nm torque and mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, delivers more than enough performance for a thrilling drive.

The front MacPherson struts suspension has enhanced steering response and provide a comfortable ride feel.

The rear suspension is fitted with a multi-link suspension that boosts ride comfort and driving stability.

From the safety standpoint, the Sportage leads the pack.

Standard safety features across the range include vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, anti-lock braking system, front parking assist, six airbags and an advanced high-strength steel construction.

The most innovative safety feature in the Sportage is the VSM.

VSM combines five different safety features and makes them work in harmony with each other in the event of an emergency.

For instance, in the event of a slide, VSM kicks into action by controlling the motor-driven power steering and ESC in the Sportage to regain directional stability.

To top off an already class-leading package, the Sportage recently won first place in the 2016 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, standing out with an extremely low number of faults.

Not only did the Sportage bag the dependability award for compact SUVs, it came out on top when compared against 68 models of all body types from 24 different carmakers.

According to Naza Corporation Holdings’ Automotive Group chief operating officer Datuk Samson Anand George, achievements such as this are made possible by the impressive team of designers and engineers at Kia in producing the all-new Sportage.

On the local front, the Sportage also won the Best SUV/Crossover – Mid-size 4X2 5-Seater category of the recent CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards 2016.
