Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) executive director Datuk Dr Ang Bon Beng received both the awards from Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong in the presence of Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, chief operating officer Calvin Kan and chief revenue officer Lim Bee Leng at a gala dinner at The Royale Chulan Damansara hotel on Oct 6.
The Navara won because of the vehicle’s refined interior and exterior plus a best-in-class powerful engine and a multi-link rear suspension, offering a blend of performance and comfort which is rare among pick-up trucks.
Launched in November last year, the Navara is the 12th generation nameplate that comes from a long line of Nissan pick-up heritage spanning 80 years, with 4 million pickup owners in 180 countries around the world.
The Navara comes as the most powerful pickup in its segment with the improved 2.5L, third-generation YD25DDTi engine, which produces a maximum power output of 190PS and 450Nm of torque at 2,000rpm.
Paired with a first-in-class seven-speed automatic transmission with manual mode, drivers are ensured of impressive power delivery with smoother acceleration.
A host of other impressive features including a first-in-class multi-link rear suspension for premium ride comfort, distinctive V-motion strut grille, full LED Headlamp with an impressive boomerang-shaped Daytime Running Light, rear spoiler and new 18-inch alloy wheels, make it the ultimate pick-up truck.
Within its smartly-designed interior, the Navara comes with the same luxurious comfort found in Nissan’s other premium models - Zero Gravity Inspired Seats that helps to reduce driver fatigue; and optimum cabin cooling is ensured in every drive with dual zone automatic air conditioning and rear air-conditioning vents.
Additionally, the X-Trail won as a result of its aerokit enhancements together with lowered springs, dark 18-inch wheels and leather interior that elevates the X-Trail Tuned by IMPUL into something eye-catching.
Fitted with newly designed front and rear bumper spoilers and side skirts, plus an all-new designed 18-inch IMPUL Aura SX-50 alloy wheels in unique chrome bronze and gloss black finish, the makeover accentuates its aggressive aesthetics, giving the X-Trail a commanding road presence.
With the IMPUL Sports Springs, the vehicle ride height is lowered by approximately 30mm to provide a more agile and responsive driving experience.
The CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards is the first of such awards organised by The Star Media Group that saw some 50 vehicles being shortlisted across 22 categories including Best Compact Car, Best Mid-Sized Car, Best Luxury Executive Car, Best Compact SUV/Crossover and Best Pick-Up Truck.
