KUALA LUMPUR: Being an AirAsia BIG member proved to be a truly rewarding decision for Vimal Krishnamurthy who won a Nissan X-Trail at the budget airline’s loyalty points conversion contest.

Vimal, who expressed delight at his win, said it was his first time at winning a car.

“It was easy to participate in the contest. I only needed to make that call to my bank to convert my credit card reward points,” said Vimal.

The 30-year-old businessman said he had signed up with AirAsia BIG last year.

The Jan 18-Feb 23 contest was organised by AirAsia’s loyalty programme, AirAsia BIG, in partnership with Nissan distributor Edaran Tan Chong Motor and nine other banks. The banks were Alliance Bank, AmBank, Citibank, Maybank, Public Bank, RHB Bank, RHBInvest, Standard Chartered Bank and United Overseas Bank.

The contest, which attracted over 3,000 entries, was designed to provide AirAsia BIG members who are also credit cardholders with top financial institutions, an opportunity to turn their credit card reward points into chances at winning an SUV, apart from the AirAsia flights they could redeem with their BIG Points.

The more points converted, the higher the chances of a contestant winning.
