The first such awards from CarSifu is set to stir up excitement among car enthusiasts and automotive industry executives, as the outcome would be revealed tonight at The Royale Chulan Damansara hotel here.
The awards, organised by Star Media Group, will peak with the announcement of the “Car of the Year,” which will be selected from one of the winners of 22 categories up for grabs.
The 22 categories include Best Compact Car, Best Mid-sized Car, Best Luxury Executive Car, Best Compact SUV/Crossover and Best Pick-Up Truck. Other categories include Business Car of the Year, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle of the Year and Best Local Design.
The awards will honour outstanding cars for advancements and innovations in areas such as design, features and green technology. Some 50 vehicles are nominated for the awards of which these cars in the running are those launched locally from Oct 1 last year to Sept 30.
Expect top picks from brands such as Audi, BMW, Citroen, Ford, Haval, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar-Land Rover, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Proton, Renault, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo to battle it out for the grand title.
These cars were evaluated in key areas such as safety, performance, comfort, fuel economy, handling, styling as well as their individual “wow” factor. Some of these winning cars, along with several recently launched vehicles, will be presented at the Carsifu Auto Show 2016, to be held the new wing of 1Utama Shopping Centre from Oct 26 till 30.
The auto show will be on a display area of 12,188 sq ft around the Highstreet concourse area of the shopping mall. Among the brands are Proton, Perodua, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Isuzu and Volvo.
Visitors can enjoy test drives on a route around Bandar Utama, and expect attractive deals and sales promotions.
