CKD Mazda cars to get seats from APM joint venture

SHAH ALAM: Mazda cars such as the CX-5 sport utility vehicle (SUV) will be getting seating systems from a joint venture between APM Automotive Holdings Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Auto Parts Holdings Sdn Bhd and Delta Kogyo Co Ltd.

The joint venture company, APM Delta Seating Systems Sdn Bhd, will also be supplying seating systems components for Mazda vehicles assembled in Malaysia which might be exported into other Asean countries.

APM Delta Seating Systems will also look into exporting completely knocked down (CKD”) seats, seat frames and components to other Asean countries.

The production plant for this joint venture will be in Kulim, Kedah and is due to be completed by February 2017.

The joint venture, initiated through a programme by Mazda and Malaysia Automotive Institute four years ago, is in support of Malaysia’s Northern Corridor Economic Region which aims to boost economic growth in the Northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Auto Parts Holdings focuses on design, manufacture and sales of automotive components and systems.
Meanwhile, Delta Kogyo which is a manufacturer of seat assembly, slide adjuster, recliner, height adjuster, shifter, sun visor and door checkers, is based in Japan.

Delta Kogyo, a Japanese corporation, has been one of APM Group’s technical partners in Malaysia for over 4 years and also has operations in China, Thailand, Myanmar North America and Mexico.
