PETALING JAYA: The highly anticipated Toyota C-HR has gone on public display and already there are droves of people who have arrived to take a look at it in person.

The front-wheel driven only C-HR, seen here in Metal Stream Metallic, has a 2,640mm wheelbase and measures 4,360mm-long, 1,795mm-wide and 1,565mm-tall.


The display vehicle at UMW Toyota's Seksyen 19 3S (sales, service and spare parts) centre features a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine, but pamphlets of the compact sport utility vehicle being handed out indicates a 1.8-litre (2ZR-FAE) naturally aspirated engine instead.

Power has been rated at 140PS at 6,200rpm and 172Nm at 4,000rpm and will be managed by a continuously variable transmission with a sequential shifter before reaching the front wheels.

The 1.2-litre 1,197cc) 8NR-FTS turbocharged engine is capable of outputting 114hp at 5,200rpm and 190Nm from 1,500rpm.

Also mentioned was that the C-HR will be equipped with a 'full range' of safety equipment including rear cross traffic alert and should also have pre-collision safety, active cruise control, lane departure alert, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, automatic high beam, side mirror puddle lights, and follow-me-home headlights.

The pamphlet also showed that there will be six colour options of:
- White Pearl CS
- Metal Stream Metallic
- Attitude Black Mica

Another three will come with a black roof:
- Red Mica
- Radiant Green Metallic
- Blue Metallic

Further specifications and price of the C-HR have yet to be confirmed as well as whether the 1.2-litre turbocharged variant will make it to our shores.



The C-HR will be on display here until Aug 8 before changing its location to the upcoming Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) Racing Festival on from Aug 12 to 13 August at the Batu Kawan Stadium, Penang.

After which, it can be viewed at the Toyota Subang Jaya showroom from Aug 16 to 22, Mid Valley from Aug 23 to 27, and Sunway Pyramid from Sept 4 to 10 as well as other locations around the nation.
