STUTTGART: The Ferrari 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 which equips the 488 GTB and Spider, has won the International Engine of the Year for the second year running.

The winners of the 19th International Engine of the Year Awards were announced at a ceremony at Engine Expo 2017 in Stuttgart, Germany.

And it was the Ferrari V8, code-named F154CB, that triumphed once again, joining an exclusive list of just four other engines in the awards’ history to scoop the title for two consecutive years.

The explosive power of 670ps delivered at 8,000rpm and 760Nm torque at 3,000rpm in seventh gear, along with a razor-sharp throttle response time of just 0.8 seconds at 2,000rpm in third gear, wowed the panel of 58 international judges from 31 countries, once again.

Dean Slavnich, co-chairman, International Engine of the Year Awards said, “It is fitting that probably the best turbocharged engine ever developed has secured back-to-back outright International Engine of the Year Award titles. It’s blend of heart-thumping performance on both road and track, with a glorious V8 Maranello rumble and an ultra-sophisticated design that’s loaded with advanced technologies, makes the Ferrari V8 unbeatable for another year.”
