First Lotus Evora 400 rolls off the line

LONDON: Today marks the first Lotus Evora 400 to roll out of the British carmaker’s Hethel assembly facility.

A select few comprising of the senior management, manufacturing and engineering staff witnessed first-hand as the very first Evora 400 was driven off the assembly line and being the first, it will be used as a promotion car from now on.

The Evora 400 finished in metallic black, was first seen during this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Its performance has eclipsed its predecessor - the Evora S, in terms of performance by clocking in six seconds faster at the company’s Hethel test track with a time of one minute 32 seconds.

The Evora 400 can sprint from 0 to 100kph in 4.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 300kph, thanks to its supercharged mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 395bhp and 410Nm of torque – all housed within its new aluminium chassis.

Production of the Evora 400 will see the first batch head for the European market, with deliveries commencing in August this year.

As for the Chinese and North American markets, they will receive the Evora 400 as a 2017 model year in early 2016.

The Evora 400 is currently priced at £72,000 (RM432,00).
