At RM141,588, the Jet Black Ranger Wildtrak is a RM1,750 premium over the range topper, and also comes with a limited edition decal. While the Wildtrak has a 6-speed manual transmission, only the 6-speed automatic version will be available in this special colour.
It has all the features found in the standard WildTrak such as SYNC 3, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Launch Assist, Adaptive Load Control, and Emergency Brake Assist. Ford distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion said the safety features in the Ranger is class leading locally.
The Wildtrak is powered by a 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbocharged Duratorq TDCi diesel engine that produces 197bhp and 470Nm of torque.
Ford has given the Ranger a 28-degree approach angle, 25-degree departure angle, 230mm ground clearance and the capability to wade into 800mm of water.
In addition, it also has a towing capability of up to 3.5 tonnes and can take on a payload of up to 1.2 tonnes.
The Ranger uses an electronically controlled transfer case, which allows drivers to shift from 4x2 to 4x4 High mode on the fly via a knob on the centre console, as well as an electronic locking rear differential when in 4x4 Low to help improve traction in difficult conditions.
