KUALA LUMPUR: The 7th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2016), which was held from Oct 5-8 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, proved to be a record-breaking event as it generated RM2.2bil in business leads.

IGEM 2016 was organised by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) - the organisation charged with the development and promotion of green technology as a strategic engine for socio-economic growth in Malaysia.

“IGEM 2016 has been the most succesful IGEM yet. Despite current global economic uncertainties, it is encouraging to see companies prioritising investment in green technology.

"IGEM 2016 also played a critical role in forging strategic partnerships, sharing industry knowledge and cultivating greater awareness on the importance of adopting green technology,” said Group Chief Executive Officer of GreenTech Malaysia, Ahmad Hadri Haris.

IGEM 2016 also cemented its position as ASEAN’s largest green technology business and innovation platform.

GreenTech Malaysia also forged six partnerships worth over an estimated RM130mil during IGEM 2016 with BMW Malaysia, Petronas Dagangan Berhad and the organiser of the International Electric Vehicle Expo, Asia School of Business, Malaysian Mensa Society and a memorandum of understanding with the Johor Port Authority (JPA).

“In realising the success of IGEM 2016, GreenTech Malaysia has various parties to thank including KeTTHA, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) as well as our friends from the media,” said Ahmad during GreenTech Malaysia’s Media Appreciation Brunch event held at TPC Kuala Lumpur recently.

It was also announced that IGEM 2017 will be held between Oct 11 to 13, 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
