The top variant of the Camry 2.5 Hybrid was the first in its class to qualify as an Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) by the Government when it was launched in April 2015. The incentive was provided to locally assembled cars that meet the EEV criteria.
Without the EEV incentive, the retail price of the Camry 2.5 Hybrid would have been over RM250,000 but the incentive brings it down to around RM175,000.
The Camry's hybrid system combines output from the 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder petrol engine and a small high-torque electric motor. The system produces a total output of 202hp with up to 213Nm of torque available from the engine and 270Nm from the electric motor. Depending on driving conditions (up to 40kph), it is possible to drive only using electric power.
