GoAuto unveils Great Wall M4 SUV at its first 4S centre

SHAH ALAM: Go Automobile Manufacturing SdnBhd (GoAuto), the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of Great Wall vehicles in Malaysia, opened its first 4S (Sales, Service, Spare-parts and Spray-paint) centre in Glenmarie here.

The RM2.4mil facility is manned by 30 GoAuto staff members and equipped with  15 maintenance bays capable of servicing up to 420 vehicles a month.

GoAuto plans to open 65 additional 4S centres nationwide and targets to sell 6,000 units of the M4 by the end of this year.

“From the readiness of the vehicle stocks to service to spare parts as well spray painting, the 4S Centre acts as a one-stop centre for customers whereby we are ready with everything the customer would need when purchasing any of our models,” said GoAuto CEO Ahmad Azam Sulaiman.

The company also introduced its best-selling Great Wall M4 compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), which is being built in Kedah.

As part of the launch, GoAuto held an open house for the public at its new centre and will last for three days from Aug 6 to 9.

Since the introduction of the M4, it has garnered more than 2,500 bookings for both its five-speed manual (MT) and six-speed automatic transmission (AT) models, with prices inclusive of GST and insurance ranging from RM49,740 to RM62,760.

The M4 uses a 1.5-litre VVT engine producing 105bhp at 6,000rpm and 138Nm of torque at 4,200rpm and has a 2,383mm wheelbase, while measuring 3,961mm-long, 1,728mm-wide and 1,617mm-tall.

It comes in three variants with either a manual or automatic transmission and starts with the entry-level Standard, followed by the Comfort, before ending with the range-topping Premium.

Firstly, the M4 Standard with a manual (RM49,740) and automatic (RM51,717) transmission get dual airbags, fabric seats, steering audio controls, power windows, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, manual anti-glare rear-view mirror and 15-inch wheels with 195/65 series tyres as standard.

Only the M4 with an automatic transmission adds brake assist, hill-start assist and traction control to the list of safety equipment.

The Comfort (MT), priced at RM54,747, gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel, luggage carrier, reverse sensors, central locking (via remote too) and automatic locking function and 16-inch wheels with 205/60 series tyres.

However, the Comfort (AT), costing an additional RM3,005 at RM57,752, adds as a DVD-player for the standard two-speaker sound system.

The range-topping Premium (MT), priced at RM59,755, upgrades the fabric seats to leather and even includes a SmartTag integrated rear view mirror and an MP5 double-DIN player with DVD, Navigation and an Around View Camera system.

As for the Premium (AT) variant, priced at RM62,760, includes front door locking error-proofing function and car locating function to the list of goodies.

The Great Wall M4 comes with a three-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first) and is available in six colours of orange, red, blue, black, silver and white.

Other models available at the centre include the Haval SUV and Wingle pick-up truck.

“We aim to provide customers with high-quality SUVs as we strengthen our presence and position in both the Malaysia and South East Asia markets”, said GoAuto executive director Datuk SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal.

GoAuto made history in the local automotive industry by becoming the first company awarded with the EEV manufacturing license by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry under the new National Automotive Policy in 2014.

GWM is China’s largest SUV and pick-up truck manufacturer and is listed in Hong Kong and Shanghai and has a production capacity of 2,000,000 units, selling over 700,000 units last year alone.

It is also the eighth-largest automaker in China with the Haval ranked as the number one Chinese SUV in terms of sales in 2014.
