PETALING JAYA: Finally! Perodua has decided to allow “teaser” photos of the Bezza to be released today following media uproar over its permission to let three online auto publications publish ahead of the others.
The trio - two English-medium websites and one Malay-medium site - were given the full rein to show partial shots of the Bezza and run their first driving experience of the car on Thursday.
It was the media’s understanding that such information and prices were to be released to the public only on launch day on July 21. Perodua predictably got an earful from the rest who felt the national car maker was showing favouritism and not being fair to them.
At 508l, the Bezza has one of the biggest boot capacity in its class.
After considering the complaints, it agreed to do the right thing. While he did not single out this media tangle, Perodua president and CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh did say that "if we have fallen short in some way, we apologise and will strive to do better."
The photos Perodua allowed us to post are "teaser" images that do not show the car in its entirety but up to 80% only so as to keep the buzz going until July 21.
But anyone with an imagination will be able to put things together and visualise the proportions of the Bezza and get a sense of its dimensions. Or you would already have seen the first leaked photos much earlier before this brouhaha.
