PETALING JAYA: Here's an update today from Honda Malaysia in the ongoing Takata airbag recall.

Customers who have sent in their cars to have the airbags fixed will be compensated RM50 per day for loss of use of their cars. The compensation period begins today and ends on Aug 31. Such customers must first register at the Honda Malaysia product recall site. The compensation information and who qualifies are detailed in the FAQ on the recall site.

Honda Malaysia has also set up three temporary service central hubs in George Town, Petaling Jaya and Johor Baru from Aug 1 to Sept 30. In addition, there will be 24 mobile hubs at 21 Petron service stations and three Honda Family Road Trip locations from Aug 5 to Sept 25.

The car company has also set up mobile teams that will go to used car dealerships to fix used Honda cars sold with the flawed airbags.
