PETALING JAYA: The Honda Malaysia Racing Team (HMRT) managed to race to victory during the Sepang 1,000KM or better known as the S1K race last weekend.

It was Aaron Lim and Farriz Fauzy in a race-prepped Honda City (Car 27) - part of the 36-member team, who took the win after completing 181 laps in a time of eight hours and forty-two minutes – a full lap ahead of the competition.

“Congratulations to all 36 HMRT members who have shown the spirit of tenacity and consistency throughout the race, working hard behind the scenes to bring home the victory,” HMRT team director Akkbar Danial.

This year’s car managed to gain an additional 22hp for a total of 140hp compared to last year and the team manage to tune the suspension to accommodate the added power while simultaneously trying to get the tyres to last longer.

According to Akkbar, the team was able to perfect their pit stop tactics thanks to the numerous training sessions the team underwent through theoretical and practical classes of how the machine works and the pit rules.

He added that HMRT was an ideal platform to train and build the skills of Honda associates while honing their capabilities within the motosports arena and something most surprising to note was that 20 out of 36 HMRT members this year were new.

“I am proud at the commitment shown by the team in using the skills and knowledge garnered through their participation in HMRT,” said Akkbar.
