KUALA LUMPUR: Infiniti is raising the ante in the local premium car market with its flagship performance luxury sedan - the Q70.

The luxury sedan gets a muscular and expressive design language which distinguishes itself from European marques.

Its front features an imposing chrome double-arch grille with a wave mesh pattern flanked by LED headlamps and fog lights.

Moving round to the back and you’ll find an unique trunk lid shape with chrome rear finishers and large dual exhaust pipes with polished tips.

Inside the Q70, it’s all about luxury, comfort and convenience with quilted leather seats which are climate controlled with a 10-way power driver and front passenger seats including the 2-way power lumbar support.

There’s also the hand crafted white ash silver-powered wood trim and a 10-speaker Bose premium sound system to add an upmarket feel to the posh cabin.

Sold in three variants, the Q70 2.5L V6 is priced at RM295,000, the Q70 3.7L V6 at RM375,000 and the Q70 3.5L V6 Hybrid at RM420,000. (All prices are on-the-road without insurance).

All variants come with Infiniti’s refined seven-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and manual shift mode.

The transmission also has Downshift Rev Matching feature which brings the engines up to the correct rpm for fast and smooth gearshifts.

The 3.5L Hybrid’s engine and motor combination generates a maximum output of 360hp and 350Nm of torque.

Safety-wise, the Q70 comes with six airbags; pre-crash front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters which tighten the seatbelts in certain braking situations while the Active Front Head Restraints helps reduce whiplash-type injuries.

“We aim to offer the Q70 to those who won’t settle for ordinary,” said Infiniti Motor Ltd, senior regional manager (Asia & Oceania) Michael Cope at the launch on Tuesday.

Also present at the launch were Infiniti business unit, senior general manager Christopher Tan, Auto Dunia Sdn Bhd director Azman Badrillah and Inspired Motor Sdn Bhd director Datuk Saharudin Mohd Toha.

Infiniti aims to sell 250 Q70s a year.

“The Infiniti Q70 is going up against competition from the European luxury premium segment but we believe we have something different to consider with our luxury sedan,” said Tan.

It is available in Hermosa Blue, Malbec Black, Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow and Moonlight White.
