SHAH ALAM: After launching its new Giga range of heavy-duty trucks, Isuzu Malaysia now offers a complete truck line-up in the country.
The Japanese commercial vehicle producer also updated its Forward medium-duty truck range in Malaysia by adding two new 4x2 rigid variants.

"Isuzu products has seen strong response from Malaysian customers. For example, our N-Series light duty trucks (now known as Elf), are the best-selling such trucks here. Our F-Series was also the best-selling medium-duty truck line last year," said Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd director and senior general manager Katsuro Ishihara at a media briefing at Setia City Convention Centre, Shah Alam.

The Giga range in Malaysia offers two prime movers, namely the Prime 18-tonne 4x2 and the 23-tonne 6x4 trucks, as well as a 30-tonne 6x4 rigid FXZ 360 truck.

These three Giga trucks are powered by a 9.8-litre six-cylinder turbocharged commonrail engine with 360ps at 2,000rpm and 1,422Nm of torque at 1,400rpm.

Transmission is a ZF-sourced nine-speed manual.

The Giga heavy-duty trucks have full air brakes with auto adjusters, cooling slats to aid air flow, improved aerodynamic features and six side mirrors.

A front under-run protector is under the main bumper, to reduce damage in accidents involving small vehicles.

Also, a 400-litre aluminium fuel tank offers weight savings and ample travel range compared with conventional steel fuel tanks.

Meanwhile, Isuzu's Forward truck range now includes the narrow cab 11-tonne FSR Pro, which has a 4-cylinder turbocharged commonrail engine with 210ps at 2,600rpm and 638Nm of torque at 1,600rpm.

Another new Forward truck variant is the 16-tonne FVR Pro, which shares the same 5.2-litre engine with the FSR Pro, but with a higher torque of 706Nm.

Both the FSR and FVR Pro trucks use a six-speed manual transmission.

Price tags are RM151,300 (Forward FSR Pro); RM175,200 (Forward FVR Pro); RM298,000 (Giga FXZ 360); RM258,500 (Giga Prime 4x2) and RM303,000 (Giga Prime 6x4).

For its medium and heavy-duty trucks, Isuzu Malaysia offers an after-sales package that includes free parts and labour (up to 100,000km), 24-hour breakdown support, and a 18-month or 80,000km (whichever comes first) warranty.
