KUALA LUMPUR: Total vehicle sales in January 2016 dropped to 44,591 units from the 50,602 units recorded in the same month last year, the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said.
The sales volume for the month was 20.5 per cent or 11,501 units lower than December 2015 due to heavy discounting and offers by car companies, which led to higher sales recorded for the month.
"The continuation of more stringent hire purchase loan approval also influenced market performance in January 2016," MAA said in a statement.
