The hottest model of the night is undoubtedly the J300, which is Kawasaki's first ever scooter.

PETALING JAYA: Kawasaki Motors Malaysia unveiled a triple surprise that included Kawasaki’s first ever scooter, the J300, along the Ninja ZX-10R ABS, and the Z125 Pro on Sunday.

The fuel-injected 299cc engine of the J300 churns out a maximum of 20.3kW at 7,750rpm, while peak torque of 28.7N.m arrives at 6,250rpm.

Seat height of this CBU scooter is at a very reasonable 775mm, making the job of handling this 191kg (curb) scooter not too difficult.

The 2016 ZX-10R ABS is as close as one can get if he or she is hankering for a racing-spec superbike.

The new model comes with an array of racing-derived equipment developed with the input of Kawasaki Racing Team’s two World Superbike champions, Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea.

Those who want to know more about the philosophy behind the new ZX-10R, which is available here only as a CBU unit, can go to #getcloser to find out how the new model is similar to the actual racing bike.

Kawasaki has redesigned or replaced almost all parts of the 998cc four-cylinder inline four engine that was first introduced in 2011.

The changes include new pistons, camshafts, cylinder head, primary gear, crankshaft, porting with electronic throttle valves, a larger airbox, and thicker engine sidewalls.

The result is an output of 154.4kW at 13,000rpm, and a peak torque of 113.5Nm at 11,500 rpm, while being Euro 4-compliant.

The locally-assembled Z125 Pro is a global model launched this year, and this smallest street fighter among Kawasaki’s Z family sports a 125cc air-cooled single cylinder engine mated to a four-speed transmission. Peak output is at 7kW (8,000rpm), while the 9.5Nm of torque peaks at 6,000rpm.

Starting is easy as it comes with an electric starter and fuel injection, while a decent range can be assured with its 7.4-litre fuel tank.

Handling it is expected to be a breeze as it weighs in at 101kg, while bringing it to a stop is equally reassuring as it comes standard with front and rear disc brakes.

The ZX-10R ABS is expected to be priced below RM99,000, while the J300 and Z125 Pro are expected to be less than RM29,800 and RM9,900, respectively.
