NAGOYA (Japan): Lexus has updated its CT 200h by re-arming it with a refreshed interior and new aggressive looks for the masses.

There's now an aggressive front fascia, thanks to a new mesh pattern for the signature spindle grille - doing away with the integrated bumper that ran across the grille just below the Lexus emblem and the horizontal bars within the grille.

The fog light bezels are now painted metallic grey and are surrounded by an outer frame with a triangular cross-section and sharp edges and the "arrowhead" DRLs have been repositioned above the single-projector headlamps.

The rear of the car now possesses the new wider LED "L"-signature shaped taillights with the turn signals at the bottom of the assembly and the upper and lower lines of the taillights thicken as they curve outwards.

Also, the back door garnish now envelopes the Lexus badge right between the rear glass as the lower part of the reshaped rear bumper is now coated in metallic silver and black.

The rear reflector bezels have also been painted metallic grey to match the fog light surrounds up front.

Furthermore, the exterior will also offer new two-tone exterior paint scheme and new colours for the F Sport variant, such as Lava Orange Crystal Sunshine and Heat Blue Contrast Layering.

Inside, the Lexus Navigation System gets upsized from 7.0-inch widescreen monitor to a wider 10.3-inch screen, while the interior's colour palette gets expanded with new combinations that include Sunflare Brown/Noble Brown, Ochre/Light Ochre and Chateau/Fromage

There's also a mix of fabric and long-wearing synthetic leather in Black, Black/Red, Dark Camel/Noble Brown and Chateau/Fromage as well as new all-fabric upholstery in Black/Red, Dark Camel/Noble Brown and Chateau.

"The 2018 CT 200h has been refreshed and revitalized by enhancing its progressiveness. Despite being classified as a minor-change model, the car is more emotional and sporty than before, making it the ideal premium hybrid compact for younger customers who enjoy spirited driving, but still care about the environment," said Lexus chief engineer of Minor Change CT 200h Chika Kako.

Updates for the performance oriented F-Sport variant starts with black metallic paint and an updated exclusive mesh pattern for the spindle grille.

Its headlights now feature a single projector high/low-beam headlamp and exclusive jet-black plating used on the upper and lower front grille molding as well as a metallic black centre lower trim garnish at the rear.

Within the F-Sport's cabin, there's new exclusive interior combinations including two-tone leather in Flare Red/Black, White/Black and Chateau/Black; fabric in Black/Red and Chateau/Black.

Fabric and synthetic leather is offered in Black/Flare Red, Black/Orange and now adds Naguri accent to the options list.

"The F Sport attracts younger customers, so we've strengthened the vehicle's exclusive black items to reinforce its sporty nature, namely the rear bezel and the rear lower garnish. The rear bezel has the same mesh design as the front grille, and the lower garnish is painted metallic black here while the normal grade color is silver," said Lexus chief designer of CT 200h Tetsuo Miki.
