Lighter and more powerful Audi A4 coming to Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: If you have been going to the Audi Malaysia website lately, you would have noticed that it is teasing the arrival of the new A4.

It describes the BMW 3 Series rival as "more powerful, more efficient and more intelligent."

The latest Audi compact executive model is up to 120kg lighter and up to 21% more fuel efficient. In addition, it has the best drag coefficient in its class at 0.23.

Based on the MLB modular platform, the seven-speed S tronic and eight-speed tiptronic transmissions have been redeveloped. Power output has increased significantly and ranges from 150PS to 272PS. All engines promise responsiveness and refinement.

The 2.0 TFSI has a new revolutionary combustion system: The 2.0 TFSI ultra with 190PS uses a new combustion method that makes it especially efficient.

Audi said the fifth-generation B9 A4 is also ahead of peers in terms of infotainment and assistance systems. In-car technology options include the Audi virtual cockpit, predictive efficiency assistant, rear cross-traffic assist, collision avoidance assist and turn assist.

All these improvements are likely to mean the next A4 would cost more. Hold this thought as we await the arrival of the new A4. The outgoing A4 1.8 TFSI is going for RM240,000 and the A4 2.0 TFSI quattro is RM312,000.
