Lotus releases Evora 400 pricing

LONDON: Lotus Cars says the Evora 400 is now priced at £72,000 (RM405,000) in Britain – that’s £10,000 more than the entry-level Evora that debuted in 2012.

In Malaysia, the Evora arrived costing under half-a-million ringgit; the Evora 400 is estimated to be RM60,000 upwards when it reaches local shores.

The Evora 400 is lighter, more efficient and dynamically better than its predecessor.

Lotus said its new car is able to lap its test track at Hethel in 1min 32Sec – six seconds faster than the previous Evora S, thanks to a familiar 3.5-litre supercharged V6 that’s been tuned-up to 400bhp and 410Nm of torque.

With almost 70% of the car being new and with a new aluminium chassis, the car takes 4.1sec to reach 100kph from standstill and onwards to a top speed of 300kph. To handle this level of performance, the Evora 400 comes equipped with 370mm AP Racing composite two-piece brake discs and a Limited Slip Differential as standard.

Other standard equipment includes automatic air-conditioning and an infotainment system with navigation.

On the options list, the manual transmission can be replaced for an automatic costing an additional £2,000 (RM12,000), cabin trim can be upgraded to Alcantara or leather for an extra £2,500 (RM15,000) and metallic paint for £900 (RM5,000).

A Black Pack is also available for £1,250 (RM7,000) providing new panels for the roof, sills and centre section of the three-element rear wing in gloss black and a dark headlining for the interior.

Adding to the list are lightweight forged alloy wheels for £2,000 (RM6,000), cruise control and yellow or black brake callipers, all priced at £300 (RM1,700) each.

According to Group Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales, the Evora 400 is considered affordable for a vehicle that is able to "deliver the performance of a car costing significantly more" and that it is the "fastest road-going Lotus" it has ever built.

The car was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will enter production for European markets in July with deliveries set for August onwards.

North American markets are due to receive the car as a 2016 model year in December, while China will first deliveries in early 2016.
