Mercedes-Benz Malaysia on standby for recall if necessary

By BERNAMA | 6 March 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has assured customers that stringent global guidelines and procedures would be followed if a recall was required in the wake of a recent recall announcement by Daimler AG.

Daimler AG had found that some vehicles may be prone to a "hydrolocked engine" flaw. This arises after the car has been damaged in a flood or after it has been submerged in water. The engine may then experience overload under certain conditions when it is started up.

In a statement today, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said very high electric current might lead to overheating of the starting current limiter.

The company said it is awaiting further information from Daimler AG and would update its customers as soon as more details are received, it said.
