LOS ANGELES: The new feature from the director of "Heat," "Collateral" and "The Last of the Mohicans" is said to be in its final development stages and filming is scheduled to start next year.
According to Variety, the project has been gestating for some time and will be based on Brock Yates' 1991 book "Enzo Ferrari The Man, the Cars, the Races".
Although there is no word on the likely cast for the feature, Cecchi Gori Media's Niels Juul has confirmed that Mann has merged two existing adapted screenplays of the book, one penned by Troy Kennedy Martin and the other by David Rayfield, along with elements from Ferrari's official biography in order to arrive at the story he wants to tell.
The film has been in development in some shape or form at Cecchi Gori Media since 2004 and is in no way related to the recently announced Gianni Bozzacchi-produced Enzo Ferrari biopic to which Robert De Nero is allegedly attached.
