New Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan concept to be unveiled at Shanghai auto show

STUTTGART: Come April 19, Mercedes-Benz will preview its concept of a new A-Class sedan at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.

Series production of the new A-Class sedan is expected in 2018 and no, it will not be just a China-only car. It will be a global car and is likely to be introduced to Malaysians as well.

At present, Mercedes-Benz's small-car line-up are the A-Class hatchback, CLA sedan and wagon, GLA crossover and B-Class MPV.

The new sedan will be sold alongside the CLA, which will take on a different look in the next revision to differentiate itself further as it is also based on the A-Class platform.

Mercedes is keen to roll out the new A-Class sedan in a move to woo buyers who would otherwise go for the upcoming BMW 1 Series sedan and the Audi A3 sedan. Just as with the CLA, the new A-Class sedan is also aimed at offering a Mercedes at a lower price point to the C-Class, which has grown bigger and more expensive over the years.

So if you don't want the CLA, there's this new small sedan option as well. More choices to the people.
