SHAH ALAM: Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (MODENAS), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad (DRB-HICOM), has launched three new scooters for the Malaysian market - namely the all-new Karisma 125, Elegan 250 from Modenas, as well as the locally-assembled Downtown 250i by Kymco from Taiwan.

The new Karisma 125, Elegan 250 and Downtown 250i scooters are currently priced at RM4,980, RM12,830 amd RM21,500 respectively.

First introduced in 2003, the new generation Karisma 125 comes in either Bright Red or Pearly White and is powered by a 125cc engine generating 9hp at 7,500rpm, while featuring a USB port for charging purposes, a multi-purpose key control system and a spacious compartment.

The larger Elegan 250 is offered in two colour choices of Matt Black and Matt White, while utilising a 250cc fuel injected engine with a  single overhead cam (SOHC) to generate 22hp at 7,000rpm and has a liquid cooling system for better and smoother riding performance.

The Elegan uses a telescopic front fork and a trailing rear swing arm for its suspension and comes equipped with disc brakes for the front and rear as well as an LCD dashboard.

As for the Kymco Downtown 250i scooter, the brand's  first model to be launched in Malaysia,  which is based on the larger Kawasaki J300 and is assembled at the Modenas plant in Gurun.

To facilitate the after sales support and needs of KYMCO scooter users, EMOS is planning to leverage on its network of 200 dealers and its own service centers in Gurun, lpoh, Subang, Johor Bharu and Kuantan. EMOS has appointed 30 dealers as part of its business partners in introducing KYMCO scooters to the market.
