New Toyota Hilux spotted in Shah Alam

By CARSIFU | 20 January 2016

PETALING JAYA: The Toyota Hilux is arguably the top pick-up choice in Malaysia nowadays.

But rivals brands have slowly chipped away the Hilux's lead with the introduction of next-generation or massively upgraded models.

Toyota is fighting back with a new Hilux, which sports a new front grille among a host of improvements.

A CarSifu fan tipped us off to a Hilux double cab and single cab, most probably undergoing testing along the Guthrie Corridor, Shah Alam, earlier today.

From the looks of it, the black Hilux is the current model performing escort duty for the two new Hiluxes in front. The new double-cab, which is leading the way, features more chrome on the grille and could represent the high-end version.

We won’t have to wait long. This public road testing also signals that the new Hilux model is headed for local launch very soon (UPDATE:
Hilux confirmed for launch in Malaysia in second quarter)

The Hilux is locally assembled. The current 3.0-litre variant used to come from Toyota's Thailand plant but has since been produced in Malaysia from 2014.

This is how the upcoming Hilux to Malaysia looks up close. It was introduced in Thailand early last year.
