JAKARTA: While the HR-V has given Honda lots of reasons to smile, the BR-V ( Bold Runabout Vehicle) could soon step up the joy.

From Indonesia comes the first official sketches of the all-new BR-V Prototype which will make its world premiere at the upcoming Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015, scheduled for Aug 20 - 30, in Tangerang, Indonesia.

The 7-seat BR-V was jointly developed for the Asian market by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., in Thailand, and P.T. Honda R&D Indonesia. This model will be introduced to the Indonesian market as Honda’s new generation crossover utility vehicle to address various customer needs.

The new BR-V features tough and solid exterior design with high ground clearance, big and stylish alloy wheels and sleek roof rails. The model is also claimed to offer a comfortable and cabin with seven seats in a 3-row configuration although we think the last row is typically for young children.

The new BR-V, rumoured to be based on the Honda Brio, would  be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine with a choice of two transmissions. Honda says it would have high standard safety features.

“The all-new Honda BR-V has been developed for the needs of customers in Indonesia,” said Tomoki Uchida, President Director of P.T. Honda Prospect Motor. “We are confident that the Honda BR-V will be loved by Indonesian customers for its appealing design and value”.

P.T. Honda Prospect Motor will open booking for the BR-V at the Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2015.
