Nissan recalling older Frontier, Sentra and X-Trail

KUALA LUMPUR: Some Nissan Frontier, Sentra and X-Trails are being recalled in Malaysia because they are using defective Takata airbags. The latest recall involves nearly 53,000 vehicles.

This Takata recall exercise does not affect the X-Trail (T32), launched in January 2015, as well as all other current Nissan models.

All customers of the affected Nissan vehicles will be notified by letter through Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis. Customers receiving the letter are advised to call the nearest Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis outlet for an appointment. Selected outlets have extended their operation hours and now opens daily.

Nissan distributor Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd is also providing for Takata airbag inflator replacements during the Test Drive Carnival, held on May 19-20 at AEON Mall Kota Baru in Kelantan from 10am till 10pm. All labour and replacement parts are free.
