KUALA TERENGGANU: Perodua is maintaining its sales target of 202,000 units this year, says the company's president and chief executive officer Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.
"The market is still challenging. But we see glimpses of hope," he told a media briefing on Pulau Redang, Terengganu.
Aminar reiterated that Perodua sales was still strong, with steady demand for the company's four car models - Axia, Bezza, Myvi and Alza.
Meanwhile, Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Dr Zahari Husin said motor sales for the company is "even more challenging this year, compared with 2016."

"Hire purchase approvals are lower. We used to see conversion rate (bookings to actual sales) of 61%. Now, our conversion rate is 48%."
Zahari pointed out that the company's customer base was typically not in the higher income income segment.
Meanwhile, Zahari also said the company is "listening to its customers harder than ever before."
For example, in the past, it usually takes Perodua at least 18 months to introduce an enhanced model, following its debut.
"However, the updated Bezza was introduced less than a year following its official debut in July last year."
Recently, the Bezza received enhanced styling which include new chrome platinum finish for the Premium X and for the Advance Version. The Bezza Advance Version also comes with a new leather seat design. The Bezza was launched on July 21 last year and has sold a total of 50,900 units since then.
