KUALA LUMPUR: Perodua is a hive of activity centred around the Myvi.

First of all, it is offering up to a RM3,800 discount on the 1.5-litre Myvi from May 7 to July 5 as a "thank-you note" to Malaysians for helping made the car one of its bestselling models.

Perodua has sold 890,000 Myvis since it was introduced in May 2005.  “The Myvi remains one of our strongest selling models ... As a thank you, we are giving the best value proposition for everyone,” said Perodua president/CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Perodua also announced it is phasing out the Myvi 1.3L Premium X (AT) and Premium XS (AT) in line with changing market demands.

Perodua is also introducing a new line of affordable service parts brand dubbed ProGanti to encourage customers to use quality and reliable parts.

“As an introduction, we will introduce the six most common service parts under ProGanti, which have been tested and are distributed by Perodua. The ProGanti parts come with six months warranty. We will further increase the number of parts to 30 by year-end,” said Aminar.

Perodua said Myvi and Axia customers could also buy new accessories for the upcoming Raya season.

Perda-Tech is a training body under the Lembaga Kemajuan Wilayah Pulau Pinang (Perda). The Perodua Technical Training Centre is set up to train students in automotive mechanics and maintenance.

According to the agreement, the centre would be used as a training lab for Perda-Tech students and in return Perda-Tech will allow Perodua to conduct sales training for some 1,000 employees in the northern region of the country at its location.

As part of the agreement, Perodua has invested RM263,700 to furnish the facility with equipment and vehicles; while Perda-Tech will provide the facilities for both training and lodging for Perodua staff attending training.
