KUALA LUMPUR: The prices for certain Nissan car models have increased by 2.8% to 6.7%, from April 1, 2016.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), the sole distributor of Nissan in Malaysia, said the price hike was mainly due to the weakened ringgit, which has hampered operational costs.

In a statement, the company said it was among the last auto companies to increase prices.

"Over the past months despite severe pressure from a weakened ringgit, we have has implemented necessary measures to reduce the impact," said ETCM executive director Datuk Ang Bon Beng.

“We have always strive to offer affordable pricing," he added.
