SUBANG JAYA: DRB-Hicom Bhd in collaboration with Proton Holdings Bhd will present Proton cars as appreciation to medal winners at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The prizes are a Perdana 2.0L for the Gold medallist, a Suprima S 1.6L Turbo Premium for the Silver medallist and Iriz 1.6L Premium for the Bronze medallist.

The cars will be presented to the medal winners after the Rio 2016 Olympics, upon their return from the Games.

“As a national car manufacturer, we are extremely proud of our athletes competing at the Rio 2016 Olympics. This gesture is in line with our pride towards Jalur Gemilang,” said Datuk Seri Syed Faisal Albar, group managing director of DRB-Hicom and chairman of Proton.

Syed Faisal added that “we hope that this will provide further encouragement to our athletes to strive harder to make our beloved Malaysia proud especially at the highest level such as the Olympics.”

DRB-Hicom and Proton would like to congratulate all the medal winners who have contributed to the nation’s pride.

Malaysia is one of the 207 nations participating at the current Rio 2016 Olympics and the nation has 32 competitors competing in 10 sporting events.

To-date, our nation’s athletes have contributed 3 medals comprising of 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

Rio 2016 marks Malaysia’s 15th appearance at the Olympics which started in 1956.
