The Indonesian press had a test-drive of the compact hatchback on Feb 9. The car, which is open for bookings now and available in a choice of seven body colours, will be on display at the FX Sudirman Mall here from Feb 16-22.

The Iriz is has received a 5-star Asean NCAP safety rating. “Both variants are fitted with active and passive safety features,” said Proton CEO Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali at the launch.

“In fact, Iriz is the only compact hatchback City Car segment below 350 million rupiah that is equipped with Electronic Stability Control. Coupled with traction control, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, hill hold assist and a seat belt reminder system, these safety features are usually installed in higher-end premium cars.”

PT Proton Edar Indonesia has 25 sales and aftersales outlets in Indonesia spread across Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra and Sulawesi.

Among those present at the launch were Malaysia Automotive Institute CEO Datuk Madani Sahari, Proton director of transformation and international sales head Mohd Khalid Yusof, Matrade advisor at the Malaysian embassy in Indonesia Naim Abdul Rahman and Indonesia Otomotif Institute secretary-general Yanuarto Widihandono.
