Proton Preve now available in Chile

SANTIAGO: The Proton Preve is now on sale in Chile following its launch here on May 25.

The 1.6-litre model, distributed by Andes Motor, is being offered in three left-hand drive variants namely standard, executive and premium. They are priced respectively at 10,490,000 chilean peso or CLP (RM63,000), 11,990,000 CLP (RM72,185) and  14,490,000 CLP (RM87,000).

The standard and the executive variants both come with the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated CamPro 4-cylinder engine producing 107hp/150Nm and a 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas the premium variant offers the CamPro turbocharged engine making 138hp/205Nm and featuring a 7-speed CVT transmission.

Safety equipment for the Chilean Preve include active head restraints, collapsible engine, electronic stability control (ESC), airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, brake assist and traction control.

"With Andes Motor — Chile's leading distributor of buses, trucks and luxury cars —  as our partner, we are optimistic that our re-entry into the Chilean market will be successful,” said Proton CEO Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali. Proton last exported Wiras to Chile in 1998.

“The Prevé is one of Proton's more dynamic sedans ... we are also looking forward to the arrival of the Exora and Saga in Chile in the near future,” said Andes Motors CEO Alexander Kohler.

Proton said it targets sales of 1,000 Preves in Chile by the end of the year.
