KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia saw its best ever first quarter in 2016, after selling 2,658 units which marked a 41% year-on-year growth.
The C-Class was the volume leader in the "bread-and-butter" segment with sales of 1,359 units, followed by the locally produced E- and S-Class which delivered 260 and 195 units respectively.
As for Mercedes-Benz compact cars, the recently launched A-Class led the pack with sales of 300 units.
Mercedes-Benz’s compact sport utility vehicle, the GLA, also saw strong sales of 159 units.
In the first quarter, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also delivered 121 GLC and 49 GLE sport utility vehicles.
The Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars line-up also maintained a steady momentum, with 20 units delivered.
"Following a stellar 2015 performance, we have successfully maintained our lead in Malaysia’s premium automotive segment," said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice president of sales and marketing (passenger cars) Mark Raine.
In the first quarter, two revamped Mercedes-Benz Cycle & Carriage Bintang Autohauses were launched.
Carrying the latest Mercedes-Benz corporate identity and featuring upgraded showrooms and customer lounges, upgrading the Mercedes-Benz Cycle and Carriage Bintang Autohauses in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Georgetown, Penang required an investment of RM11mil.
In the same quarter, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Cycle and Carriage Bintang also introduced the new RM4.3mil Mercedes-Benz City Store.
