Launched at the company headquarters here today, the Twizy is compact, nippy and touted as a fun-to-drive vehicle that is more agile than conventional cars.
Barely the size of a three-wheeled scooter, the Twizy’s electric motor delivers 13kW (17hp) and 57Nm of torque for a maximum speed of 80kph.
Its 6.1kWh lithium-ion battery can be connected to any 230V/240V outlet and be fully charged up in three-and-a-half hours for a range of 100km.
Available in two trims, the Urban comes with a rear passenger seat, while the Cargo offers a watertight boot with a capacity of 180 litres.
Priced at RM71,888 for the Urban and RM73,888 for the Cargo, the Renault-Nissan Alliance has sold 15,000 Twizy cars as of April this year.
For added peace of mind, like all Renault passenger cars, service intervals for the Twizy are 10,000km or six months, whichever comes first.
The Twizy also comes with a two-year or 50,000km manufacturer’s warranty for the base vehicle, and a three-year or 50,000km manufacturer’s warranty for both the traction battery and electrical drivetrain.
Meanwhile, the RS 275 Trophy R is a performance-focused variant for track driving enthusiasts.
This extreme version is introduced as a follow-up to the recently launched Megane RS 265 Cup facelift.
Almost 100kg lighter than the Megane RS, the Trophy-R’s performance is boosted with new equipment developed in cooperation with partners - Akrapovic (titanium exhaust system), Öhlins (adjustable dampers), Allevard (composite springs) and Michelin (Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres).
The Trophy-R covered the 20.832km of the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in less than eight minutes, an impressive feat for a front-wheel drive production model.
Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine has been tweaked to deliver an extra 10hp over the RS 265 Cup’s for 275hp while its maximum torque of 360Nm is available across a broad rev-band, from 3,000 to 5,000rpm.
Despite the additional power, fuel consumption has been carefully contained at just 7.5 litres per 100km.
The two-toned Pearlescent White bodywork and an Etoilé black roof, combined with the bright red of the F1-style splitter, stripes and side checker flag graphics highlight its unique motorsports pedigree.
Inside, Recaro Pole Position single-piece polycarbonate bucket seats in glossy black and upholstered in leather and Alcantara raise the wow factor.
Only 10 units of the Trophy-R are available, with an asking price of RM300,000 (on-the-road inclusive of GST, without insurance).
“The Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, which has become the flag bearer of Renault’s sporting range, is a great example, delivering performance worthy of an exclusive race-ready sports car,” said TC Euro Cars CEO Kuan Kim Luen.
