With plenty of curves for its sheet metal and sporting daytime running lights, the Captur’s power comes from its Turbo Control Efficiency (TCe) 120 1.2-litre engine with Eco-mode.
The engine is mated to a six-speed Efficient Dual-Clutch (EDC) transmission and has manual tiptronic-mode too.
Power has been rated at 118bhp at 4,900rpm and 190Nm of torque from 2,000rpm, allowing it to sprint to 100kph from standstill in 10.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 192kph. Fuel efficiency on the combined cycle is rated at 5.4L/100km.
The European New Car Assessment Programme (EuroNCAP), which crash tests all vehicles being sold in the European Union has accorded the Captur with the full five-star crash test rating.
Its safety features include four airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control with roll movement intervention, hill start assist, and emergency brake assist.
In terms of convenience, the Captur gets automatic headlights and wipers, keyless-entry with push-start button and a 377-liltre boot that’s expandable to 455 litres via the sliding rear bench seat.
The centre console features a seven-inch touchscreen that has AUX and USB ports as well as Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation and a reverse camera.
Price range for the Captur is estimated to be from RM118,000 to RM123,000.
