KUALA LUMPUR: The second Malaysia International Bus, Truck & Components (MIBTC) expo held at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre saw greater participation from both exhibitors and attendees this year.

The biennial MIBTC expo is the largest business-to-business trade exhibition in Malaysia focusing on the commercial vehicle market and its supporting industries.

The exhibition caters specifically to the needs of the regional trucking, logistics and bus industries to help serve as an exclusive platform that gathers all the best from leading manufacturers, equipment suppliers and service providers.

There were a broader range of fringe activities from both local and international exhibitors as trade visitors rose by 23%, many of whom were from the city centre to the expo by the Sendok Group.

Furthermore, visitors had easy access to many food trucks located just outside the exhibition hall.

This year’s theme was ‘Drive Safe’ for the 85 commercial vehicles exhibitors who showcased their varied products and services such as cranes, tyres, buses, trucks and telematic systems.

The expo saw six companies including Man, Scania and Volvo launching new products and services.

The second night featured the Asian Trucker networking event where 600 local and global leaders were able to freely mingle and exchange insights on new developments in the industry amidst a ‘Drive Safe’ themed décor.

Throughout the expo, the Scania Driver Competition became the big attraction, which allowed visitors with a normal drivers license a first-hand experience on how to drive a truck and some managed to walk away with prizes from Scania.

It is evident that every party from the commercial vehicle industry was out in full force during the three days to demonstrate that they have in place the products and solutions that emphasizes safety and that can cater to the needs of the growing ASEAN market.

“We are very appreciative of the support that the industry has shown towards this second MIBTC. I have also received feedback from the market that an estimated RM4.1 million was transacted during the expo,” said Asian Trucker editor and organiser of MIBTC 2015 Stefan Pertz.
