KUALA LUMPUR: The new 2015 Toyota Avanza was launched recently with new 1.3 and 1.5-litre dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) engines, for better fuel efficiency.
There are four variants priced at RM69,072 (1.3E manual); RM75,787 (1.5E automatic); RM78,477 (1.5G automatic) and RM80,810 (1.5S automatic) on-the-road including GST (goods and services tax) and insurance.
It has a 36-month/100,000km (whichever occurs earlier) warranty.
For the 1.5-litre engine, power is higher at 105ps while the maximum 136Nm of torque is now at 4,200rpm.
The 1.3-litre engine also has higher power at 97ps, with torque increased to 121Nm.
Features such as electronic throttle control have improved fuel consumption by up to 15%.
The Avanza 1.5S and 1.5G have 15-inch wheels, while the 1.5E has 14-inch wheels.
All variants have alloy wheels, except the Avanza 1.3E which has steel wheels.
For a sportier look, the optional aerokit includes a front bumper spoiler with integrated day running lights, rear bumper spoiler and side skirts.
All 1.5-litre variants come standard with a Bluetooth-capable audio system, that features a 2-DIN unit with CD-player and tuner, USB, MP3-playback and AUX connectivity.
Also offered are optional DVD-AVX or DVD-AVN audio systems, with large touchscreens and reverse cameras.
The DVD-AVN includes an internet browser (requires a wifi internet connection by the user) and GPS route navigation.
The new 2015 Avanza has nine possible seat layouts.
The second row can be easily folded with a one-touch tumble operation
Safety features include two airbags and 3-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts, ventilated front disc brakes, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution).
Also, there are childproof locking systems on the rear side doors and two ISOFIX points on the second row for childseats.
