VW offers trade-in programme in move to boost Jetta and Passat sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia is introducing a trade-in programme on the Jetta and Passat, which runs until March 31.

Volkswagen said the trade-in is open to owners of Volkswagen cars and other brands. It said it offers an attractive trade-in value on used cars.

Of course, you have to read the fine print but we will save you the trouble by telling you the trade-in is valid for owners of vehicles with minimum six months’ ownership from the registration date. Volkswagen dealerships will also need to inspect and value the traded-in cars before deciding whether to close the deal.

The new Jetta is priced from RM108,990, while the new Passat pricing starts from RM159,990.

The Jetta is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI single-charged engine with an improved 7-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) that delivers 148hp, and a torque of 250Nm between 1,500 and 3,500rpm. Three variants are available: Highline, Trendline and Comfortline.

The Passat is also available in three trims. The Highline combines a 2.0L turbocharged TSI engine with a 6-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG) to give an output of 217hp and a torque of 350Nm between 1,500 and 4,400rpm. The Comfortline and Trendline variants both come with a 1.8L TSI engine mated with a 7-speed DSG to make 178hp and a torque of 250Nm.
