VW-owners get two-year extended goodwill programme

By CARSIFU | 6 December 2016

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today announced the introduction of its Customer Care Goodwill - adding two years' of goodwill coverage to the standard five-year manufacturer's warranty.

The programme not only covers other selected Volkswagen components that have passed the five-year mark, but also the German automaker's Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) for vehicles produced till December 2013 with a mileage of up to 200,000km.

Under the programme, the company will provide another two years for parts coverage (from time of part's replacement) if the owner is willing to share part of the labour charges.

For example, if a VW-owner agrees to share the cost of replacing a failed DSG within the goodwill period, it means that the gearbox's parts and labour will receive a two-year warranty from the time of replacement.

As per Volkswagen standard parts warranty, parts that are replaced and paid for at an authorized Volkswagen Service Centre receive a 2-year warranty - excluding wear and tear.

The same applies to other selected parts, but will be on a case-by-case basis and will be further clarified at the respective authorized Volkswagen Service Centre using the car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the company's online system.

To qualify for the “VPCM Customer Care Goodwill” on DSG and other components, customers must have a full service history at any authorised Volkswagen Service Centre.

Although a parts exchange program on selected items is currently available for customers, the company will soon announce the introduction of an Economy Package meant for specific models older than five years at its authorized dealer partners.

"With the introduction of the ‘VPCM Customer Care Goodwill’, we hope to further enhance the overall ownership experience and give existing customers better protection and peace of mind. The goal is to build trust and confidence with our customers as we continue to strengthen our brand presence and share in the Malaysian market,” said VPCM managing director Florian Steiner.

On Sept 1, the company announced its five-year manufacturer warranty for all its cars.
