BERLIN: Volkswagen presented the compact Up! GTI concept with an output of 115PS - almost the same output as the Golf GTI MkI that debuted in 1976 with 110PS.

The 997kg up! GTI also has 200Nm of torque on tap and is able to sprint from 0-100kph in 8.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 197kph

It is being made available in the classic colours of Tornado Red, Pure White, Dark Silver Black Pearl and a blue named Costa Azul.

The most powerful up! to date is immediately recognisable with its typical GTI insignia, red stripe across the radiator grille with honeycomb pattern and double stripes across the wide side sill panels while the exterior mirror caps are in high-gloss black.

It also has a red strip as well as a larger roof edge spoiler and rolls on newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels for its 15mm lowered ride height.

Lastly, the interior includes leather-trimmed sport steering wheel, a GTI gear knob and the legendary "clark" seat pattern.
